Saturday November 20, 2021 (London, England) The Kiwis pop star Jack Panther, has released the second single from his upcoming project on November 19th called “Feels Right” featuring DUAL’s Maurice. Co-written with key collaborator Mckenzie Comer (MCK) and produced by Dan Martin.
With strong 808s and Panther’s distinctive vocal bouncing above wacky synths, the single hits hard right away. Over the second stanza, captivating melodies and a bouncy bass line merge with Maurice’s amazing vocal range, portraying a storey about returning home and slipping back into old patterns with an ex.
“Feels Right” teases what’s to come on his sophomore EP, which will be released in early 2022, and will be accompanied by a music video filmed and shot by Devan Narsai (Six60, Daily J) in the midst of a lockdown, wandering a deserted city and reflecting on a life left behind in a now-closed chapter.
Jack Panther, a queer artist from Wellington who now resides in Auckland, uses his artistry to merge sad with pop tones. Panther spent a lot of his childhood listening to Sky Ferreira and composing angsty poetry while wearing headphones. Jack cites Arctic Monkeys, Lykke Li, and Omar Apollo as writing influences, and takes pride in his blend of dark, frank, cool pop that flows via melodies and rhythms. Jack had a huge year in 2020, releasing four songs and his debut solo EP, ‘this dream I had,’ a collaboration with Ian Barter, a UK-based producer who has worked with Amy Winehouse, FKA twings, and Paloma Faith.
“Feels Right” refers to Panther’s rougher tendencies while giving an unforgettable hook and energy to match, following the release of “If I Was” in September, which received support from indie sites including Phork, Acid Stag, and Sniffers.
